Charles L. Scott

A cornerstone of the Ecumenical Community Center, Chuck served our organization in many remarkable ways. He has been called our Board Member Extraordinaire. He was everything from our book keeper to our custodian, and many things in between. His diligence, tirelessness, and unmitigated commitment to good works will not be forgotten.

Because he believed everyone should be treated with dignity and respect, Chuck helped others everywhere he turned without any need for accolades. He had high expectations of our efforts. Chuck was good at many things and was learning throughout his life. His highest expectations were of his own work.

Charles Scott served in the U.S. Marine Corps, and was a Systems Analyst at Rockwell Collins for many years. He was also very active at Margaret Bock Housing, Salem United Methodist Church, United Methodist Men, Symphony Cedar Rapids, and Emmaus and Chrysalis. His dear wife Evelyn supported his activities and busy schedule graciously, accomplishing many good works as well. Chuck received the 2011 Governor’s Volunteer award and, in 2010, received the Hero award in Cedar Rapids.

We celebrate his full life, and thank the Scott family for sharing him with us. We hope they can find comfort in faith and in the love of family and friends.
