Make a Difference in Someone’s Life!

$8 - $10 gives the gift of an Iowa ID for someone to get back on their feet
$20 gets someone to work or the doctor with auto gas
$20 - $100 gives a month of computer learning for a person with a disability
$100 - $400 helps with rent or prevents a utility shut off for an individual or a family

$500 - $800 helps prevent evictions and shut offs for at least 2, and as many as 8 families

Time spent with a trusted mentor can be key to success. With a few volunteers and two paid staff, this work can only be done through your partnership.

YOU can help people get where they need to go. YOU can prevent evictions and shut offs. YOU can bring help and hope to neighbors.

A serious illness, a lay-off, a fearful break-in, or a bad car wreck, a dreadful escape from an abuser - Not one but a series of traumatic events. For low-wage neighbors, specks of inconvenience can turn into enormous wrecking balls. An eviction can be absolutely devastating.

Many people YOU can help have NEVER had to ask for help before.

Budgeting can be overwhelming if financial resources are extremely limited. Rent and utility assistance now always includes a compassionate household budget analysis. This can be overwhelming without a caring HHM mentor.

Please join ECCF! Assist Linn County residents who have the most limited financial resources by volunteering as a mentor or in our office, as a guide to computer skills in our lab, or by providing a tax-deductible financial gift. Adopt a month of transportation for people to get to work, or rent, utilities, or financial and life coaching for a struggling person or family. Visit us, see wish lists for HHM or CompuPlace, or contact us by phone, mail, or e-mail.

Could you pledge to help us throughout the year? If so, please let us know how you prefer that we contact you. We can target your donation to a specific need if you wish. Unrestricted gifts to ECCF help HHM, CompuPlace, and support collaboration between all of the non-profit agencies renting low cost office and storage space at ECCF.

If you’re over 70 1/2, you can donate directly from your IRA to ECCF and help neighbors in need. Ask your tax advisor about details.

Check with your employer to see if they will match your gift to ECCF. You can designate ECCF as your charity of choice through your local United Way campaign. You can also give on Facebook.

We would be delighted to provide additional information if you wish to help our low income neighbors via estate bequests or through ECCF and local businesses’ community good works programs.

Endowment Fund

The Ecumenical Community Center Foundation (ECCF) is pleased to describe the creation of an endowment fund administered by the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation. This endowment fund was made possible through a gift from Scott and Penny Olson of $10,000.00 establishing the fund. Scott and Penny are generous in their support of ECCF. Scott has served on the Board of Directors, as President, and in other official capacities, since ECCF was created.

The endowment fund provides a vehicle for gifts that ensure the long-term future and success of ECCF. In honor of their contribution, the ECCF Board of Directors renamed our large meeting space The Scott and Penny Olson Community Room. If you are interested in helping people who come to ECCF by making a gift to this endowment fund, please contact us or the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation for additional information.
